📚 Read of the Day

💳 Mastercard Just Made the Biggest Bet in Stablecoin History

Mastercard agreed to acquire BVNK for up to $1.8 billion, including $300 million in contingent payments, making it the largest stablecoin transaction ever. The deal signals a major shift as traditional payment giants move directly onto blockchain-based rails.

The Product Pitch

BVNK powers B2B payments, cross-border transfers, and treasury operations using stablecoins, acting as infrastructure rather than a consumer-facing crypto app.

The Strategy

Mastercard is targeting remittances, one of the largest global payment flows, by leveraging faster settlement and lower costs than legacy banking systems.

Why It Matters

This isn’t experimentation anymore. A $1.8B acquisition sets a new benchmark for stablecoin infrastructure and signals real exit pathways for crypto-native fintech founders.
